Welcome To Jabiru
What Is Jabiru?
Jabiru is a community based non-profit organisation
with a commitment to supporting children and families.
Jabiru provides:
- child
care services for school children
- before
and after school and during school holidays
- youth
projects
- community
work
- information to assist families
How we were named
Every year the Jabiru, Australia ’s only
true stork, nest on the wetlands that abound around the
mouth of the Brisbane River and its nearby coastal areas.
Jabiru fly from as far away as the Northern Territory
and South-east Asia and mate for life to raise their
young.
Jabiru
Community Youth and Children’s Services
chose its name because it wanted to be associated with
the strong natural family links which draw the birds
back each year.
We believe that, like the birds, humans share a need
for strong connections with each other and the environments
in which we live.
